The changes that the modern world has experienced over the past two decades reflect the power of innovation, technological progress, vision and major social change. Such changes are aptly described as globalisation and urbanisation. The world has become smaller, faster and more complex.
The underlying maxim of the entire LEONI group is visionary thinking and an anticipatory approach, based on experience rather than simply reacting to events at all times. Economically-aware conduct and active environmental protection are integral components of our business principles.
The basic strategy of green technology that we pursue represents an ambitious goal: in part, this consists of manufacturing high quality cables from low-pollution raw materials, based on methods that save resources and reduce emissions; the other component involves the sustainability attributed to the durability of our products, which are being developed today to meet the standards of tomorrow. LEONI has been operating a certified and practised environmental management system according to DIN EN ISO 14001 for the development and manufacture of cables and wires from as far back as 1989.
What does REACh mean?
REACh stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. With REACh, the previous chemical law is basically harmonised, simplified and valid in all EU Member States.
Under REACh, there is a so-called candidate list with substance of very high concern (SVHC), which are subject to obligatory information and should be substituted in the long run. The list of candidate materials is updated twice per year by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in Helsinki.
